Student Outcomes

Ascension Catholic School ensures these important outcomes:

  • Every child learns to read before advancing.
  • Lesson topics are interesting, challenging and creative.
  • Facts and knowledge are emphasized using hands-on, direct teaching.
  • Subjects such as music, math, art, literature and social studies are interrelated.
  • There is an established scope and sequence to all curriculum areas.
  • All curriculum is infused with a multi-cultural viewpoint.

Although Minnesota has one of the largest achievement gaps in the nation between students of color and white students in both state testing and graduation rates, Ascension Catholic School consistently “closes the gap” by eighth grade.

Upon graduating from  Ascension, our students attend rigorous high schools across the metro area including Benilde-St. Margaret, Christo Rey, Wayzata, Southwest, DeLaSalle, Totino Grace, South, Southwest and Hopkins.  From there, they succeed at colleges such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Minnesota, College of St. Benedict, University of St. Thomas, St. Catherine University and St. John’s University.
