After-school programs provide students with a safe environment where they can receive nurturing support and consistency from people they trust.
This after-school program provides extra support for students who are English-Language Learners or students who would go home to empty homes because their parents work later into the evening. The program enables scholars to gain adult guidance to aid homework completion.
In cooperation with the Northside Achievement Zone Out-of-School Time network, Ascension’s Latchkey program serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The students are given extra academic instruction and homework help in a safe and nurturing environment. There are designated hours for tutoring, Homework Help, games, creative arts, Junior Achievement, and more. The program runs from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday every week and includes a snack.
Ascension School’s Youth Center is for scholars in grades 6-8. The Center provides students with supervised homework time, tutoring and other after-school programs to engage students in quality endeavors. The Youth Center is open Monday through Friday from 2 to 5:30 p.m.
This specialized reading and math enables students registered with a NAZ Connector to gain academic support Monday through Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. with a snack and transportation home.
Ascension School is a member of the Monsignor Coates Youth Organization athletic league. Students from grades 3-8 can participate in baseball, basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball.
