CONGRATULATIONS to Dontevion, an 8th grader at Ascension, for receiving the Roderick Cox Music Initiative Scholarship to support his studies at MacPhail Center for Music! The Roderick Cox Music Scholarship, supported by American Conductor Roderick Cox, who is based in Germany, aims to support serious music students who have a high musical aptitude and the motivation to pursue a music career on a standard orchestral instrument. The award grants Dontevion the opportunity to participate in individual and group instrumental instruction at MacPhail. The scholarship application process included a live audition, a letter of recommendation from his music teacher and brief personal essay. Dontevion studies violin with MacPhail’s teaching artist Tamara Gonzalez. He began lessons through the Ascension-MacPhail partnership five years ago.
